For surfing, standup paddle boarding, windsurfing, kiting, buttboarding or whatever water sports you're into these webcams will let you see the action on the water and on the beach as it's happening. These are pan/tilt/zoom cameras that you steer to see what you want to see when you want to see it.
With the Sunset Beach cam you can check out the conditions from Bolsa Chica State Beach to the Surfside jetty. To the south (camera left) the surf at the main tower (center signal) and at purchases (Bolsa north end) can both be seen. To the north (camera right) the surf at Anderson St. and Surfside Colony is visible. The front view is of course Sunset Beach. The camera has presets for each of these spots. You'll also see beautiful views of Catalina Island, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and downtown Long Beach on a clear day. If you look at the right time you might even see an attractive beach goer. Be sure to look at nighttime too. The camera switches to black and white low light mode from 8PM to 5AM. The Sunset Beach webcam was installed on May 21, 2007.
The Seal Beach webcam (installed August 2, 2007) gives terffic views of the Long Beach harbour. On a clear day you can see the Queen Mary, the Long Beach harbour entrance (aka Queen's Gate), and many other interesting details. Along the Seal Beach shoreline you can see all the surf breaks on north side as well as a really good view of the river. When the big west swells come in you can see 13th St, cloud break, and Ester. Be sure to check out the pier too.
The Seal and Sunset Beach Cams require a password to access. You may subscribe to both cams for $60 per year by clicking the Paypal button above or you may send a check to the PO Box. For questions about these webcams email [email protected]
